PAUL SIMMONS OF TIMOROUS BEASTIES’ RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OPEN STUDIOS

Posted on 22.11.2016

We welcomed some very special visitors to our studios during October for our Stars on Starting Out talks and we took the opportunity to ask them for their recommendations for must-sees at our Open Studios in November. Paul Simmons of Timorous Beasties was very taken with fine Sheffield silversmithing.

‘’I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Sheffield to speak at Stars on Starting out. One of the highlights was a tour of the Persistence Works studios where I met two crafts people who continue to uphold Sheffield’s international reputation for silversmithing. Jen Ricketts’ hand pierced tea lights are exquisite both in design and execution, recording special places for special events.

Brett Payne, who has one of the most fabulous studios, showed me his quite remarkable sterling silver picnic set, for extreme glampers. I particularly enjoyed meeting artists at different stages of their careers and seeing how mutually supportive the creative community at Yorkshire Artspace is.’’
